History with its flickering lamp stumbles along the trail of the past, trying to reconstruct its scenes, to revive its echoes, and kindle with pale gleams the passion of former days. ~Winston Churchill

Flappers and Philosophers

Women of the 1920s! (these come with varying amounts of info; I've included what there is, when there's anything).

The title, by the way, comes from the title of F. Scott Fitzgerald's first book of short stories. I love it.

The young lady in the photo is brushing the hat to clean it. Good wool felt hats last a long time without having to be professionally cleaned if they are brushed at the end of the day to remove dust and dirt.

It has been my experience that hats don't look as good after cleaning. The process takes some of the body out of them.
